Official version of the new web browser Firefox launches today.

After a long testing period, the official version of the new web browser Firefox launches today. The United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT), a division of the Department of Homeland Security, recommends switching to this new web browser. You can find a link to the Firefox website on our Client Tools page.

Of course, once we all follow this advice, the virus authors will start attacking Firefox instead of Internet Explorer and then we’ll all have to switch back. Firefox does seem to be a more bulletproof browser but, so far, it has not been attacked like it will be once we are all using it.

Am I going to switch? Absolutely! I already did with the pre-release versions. I like it, not just for the extra security but for the speed, the tabbed views, the clean look and feel, it is a great browser, more stable at version 0.7.x than some other products (that will remain unnamed) at version 5.x.x and 6.x.x, all of that and it also has a really cool logo.
