Gmail Labels Not Working (Missing) in Google Chrome Today…

February 11, 2010 – 6:01 pm
If you use Google Chrome for reading your Gmail then you may have noticed that all of your labels (including your Inbox) have been replaced by a More link with a small down arrow next to it. This would be a nuisance if the More link actually worked, but is a catastrophe instead because the More link does not do anything! That's the problem, here's the solution... Go to Settings --> Labels There you will see a new System Label called ^act -- if it is set to Show then Hide it and all of your labels should magically reappear. Weird that Google broke Gmail in their own Chrome browser, but not in FireFox (which still works fine). Seems this might be related to new Buzz functionality in Gmail? UPDATE: The above fix took care of missing labels, but the Compose Mail link was still missing... Choosing Settings --> Offline --> Disable Offline Mail for this ...

New Google Internet Browser Launched

September 2, 2008 – 4:19 pm
You can get it here:  http://www.google.com/chrome Quote from Google's "Why we built a browser page":Under the hood, we were able to build the foundation of a browser that runs today's complex web applications much better . By keeping each tab in an isolated "sandbox", we were able to prevent one tab from crashing another and provide improved protection from rogue sites. We improved speed and responsiveness across the board. We also built V8, a more powerful JavaScript engine, to power the next generation of web applications that aren't even possible in today's browsers.  I would suggest that you download it and fully test your website in it to be sure that your site functions as expected. If first impressions and Google's history are any indication, it won't be too long before this is the most popular browser on the Internet.

Be Aware and Beware of the New York Amazon Tax Law

May 20, 2008 – 9:38 pm
The State of New York recently enacted new legislation that addresses tax registration, collection, and other time-sensitive obligations. As with all tax laws, this law may or may not apply to you and/or your online business. We suggest that you actively monitor the law and use reasonable efforts to protect yourselves as appropriate. The application of this law is dependent on particular business and factual circumstances. We encourage all of our clients to perform the appropriate due diligence as it relates to their specific online businesses. Our solution will be to cease any online, sales-taxable business in New York. We wish all online vendors would do the same to encourage reversal of this ridiculous, money-grabbing law. If this stands many states will follow, and the resulting administrative costs will be an absolute nightmare. Here is a link to a memo from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, Office of Tax ...

4yourwebsite.com moves main office to Chattanooga, TN

February 20, 2007 – 5:53 pm
We are pleased to announce 4yourwebsite.com is moving our main office and expanding our business into the Chattanooga, TN area. We will be keeping our Asheville office open with the same mailing address and phone number for all of our current and future Asheville clients. You can even still drop stuff off to us, during regular business hours, at our 129 Bleachery Blvd location. As many of you know, we've been searching for over a year, for a house in the Asheville area with office space to expand our business (we outgrew our current space quite a while ago). A few months ago we expanded our search into other areas and have found the perfect place in Chattanooga. We found out, only a few days ago, that our offer has finally been accepted, and without a change to the original closing date which is February 28th. So, we have just barely ...

This Microsoft Security Vulnerability has the potential to be “The Big One”

August 11, 2006 – 6:19 pm
Vulnerability in Server Service Could Allow Remote Code Execution. For more information on this vulnerability, and to download the update, see Microsoft Security Bulletin MS06-040If you have your Windows system set to automatically download critical updates then you should be all set. To double-check you can click Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -- then look in the Currently installed programs and updates list for Security Update for Windows XP (KB921883) -- it will be pretty near the bottom of the list. If it's there then you are all set (for this week anyway), if not you should download and install it immediately. If you are responsible for system security or system support then this patch should be at the very top of your to-do list -- or, better yet, scratched off of your to-do list because it is already done.

What the Search Engines Want.. and How to Give it to Them

January 6, 2006 – 3:31 am
by Elizabeth Kirwin, Sidhe Communications & Mike Pires, 4yourwebsite.com One question which should concern all internet marketers is --- What are the search engines looking for? Search engines are based on computer logic, which sees information in text or numerical form, and has a hierarchical approach to font sizes, typefaces, and repetition of words or phrases. This article will give details about search engine preferences and explain how website content can be constructed to cater to these preferences to increase ranking on Google and other search engines. Is Your Site a Template? Google Ranks these Sites Low If your site is a template (mortgage, real estate, etc) and Google reads many sites repeated in the same format on the web, this picky search engine may kick your site from the top to the bottom of the list. Repetition of Industry Keywords Industry specific keywords can be harvested from website statistics programs or constructed from a strategic ...
